I've spent more than 25 years inside schools — as a classroom teacher, a school leader, a district initiative lead, and a collaborator with tribal communities — and everywhere I went I saw the same thing: we try to manage behavior when what students are really asking for is to belong. Systems don't change outcomes; relationships do. I founded Awesome Consulting & Educational Services to help schools and districts move from compliance-based discipline to connection-centered cultures — reducing punitive removals, building proactive Tier 1 supports, and reigniting belonging for both students and the adults who serve them. My work blends relationship-centered discipline, restorative practices, appreciative inquiry, and experiential learning, because I believe connection comes before compliance and experiences change people more than information ever will. Whether I'm on-site with a Washington district or presenting to educators nationwide, my goal is the same: schools where every child — and every educator — knows they belong.
